fresh salmon and a shot of downtown chiba

I really need to buy some of this.

Vending machines are everywhere - shopping malls, small neighborhoods, even backcountry roads! They're filled with Coke, espresso, Pocari Sweat, green tea (hot and cold), beer, and cigarettes.

Hey Peter! Nice to hear some news and see some pics!

Wow, are those vending machines instead of convenience stores, or just complimentary?

The neighborhood shot actually reminds me of a modern french suburban house, except for the big leafed plant, and the plowed yard..

praying for you,

Daniel

Hey Pete! :)
So...how do you pronounce "ja ne"? Is it "yah nay"?

We look forward to seeing you again!

Thanks for the pics--it gives me a totally different impression of Japan than I have had. I never knew anybody who lived there, and so it seemed so distant. It seems much more real now, between hearing about it from you and Zedek amd Berek. Very cool:)

Take care!

hi everybody! thanks for visiting.

you're close deb: "ja" as in "giant," and americans like us tend to put too much "ay" in "ne."

daniel: you're right. certain aspects of japanese cities and villages do seem very french, if only in their cramped sizing :-)

amy: i'm an ex-californian who really appreciates your site, and good food in general. keep it up!
