tea 2.0

LAST WEEKEND I returned to my favorite tea shop, Uogashi Meicha Ginza, featured in a previous post. Meicha Ginza has three floors and I tried the third floor for the first time. Turned out to be really modern, with a transparent vinyl roofing that pattered with raindrops. A perfect place for drinking a few cups of matcha.

The five or six other customers were mostly middle-aged women and their friends out shopping. Being male, white, and under 50 didn't faze me however. I love tea. I also finally snapped a photo of the tea preparation. Here our server is carefully mixing the matcha powder with warm water. The preparation itself is so heavily stylized I want to call it dance - every dish must be turned just so, the brush must be held at a ninety degree angle, etc.

This is my favorite tea too. A friend brought me a 300g back from his trip to Tokyo last year. Can you tell me if there is an english speaking person at Uogashi Meicha Ginza company so that I can order some tea from them? I am located in New Hampshire and would like to order more tea from them but their website is in Japanese.
